Words From the Palette
Well, this is something different.
Different for me, anyways, not necessarily for you.
Blogs, it seems these days, are prevalent everywhere. Everybody seems to want to make their statements and opinions known. In the land where I'm from, there has never been a dearth of those wanting to speak their mind, even moreso in the last 50 years. From speeches to manifestos, graffiti to posts, everybody seems to have a penchant for letting their thoughts be known.
Gone are the days of town criers, Gutenberg presses, and overbearing publishers filtering the opinions down to their tinged and crafted agendas. Now, with the push of the "Publish" button, any common human can spew forth unlimited streams of consciousness for the adoring public to digest or spurn.
So why am I adding to the noise?
Honestly, that's a good question, and probably that's the reason why I haven't posted a blog page, ever. I mean, what am I going to add to the global conversation that hasn't been repeated ad nauseum?
Well, you're here, and if you haven't scrolled away by now, there must be some modicum of interest in what's coming out of my keyboard. So thanks for that, anyway.
I'm going to attempt a blog, something different to me. I'm a visual person by trade, and I communicate well with line, form, and color. However, I like to write. It's something I do occasionally for fun. And, they tell me that a blog is a must for any creative type who wants to cultivate a personal following (an alien thought to me, but I'm told it's crucial for selling more art, which is not such an alien thought).
So, here you have it...Words From the Palette.
What will this little piece of the internet hold? Who knows? I may wax eloquently about art (probably), life (likely), culture (maybe), or politics (danger, Will Robinson! Danger!). Yeah, I may skip that last one. What I will promise you is that I will do my best to make your time spent here worthwhile. I'll show you some Latest & Greatest from the 'ol Drawing Board. I also want to show you some behind the scenes stuff on how I make my art. Maybe some comic strips. Maybe some excerpts/character sketches from a novel I'm working on. Maybe just some cool stuff to share and recommend.
Check back often. The words will be fresh and the paint may still be wet.
